New Leadership Raising Standards at the Elton

HIGH expectations are at the centre of The Elton High School's road to excellence.

In recent years The Elton has managed to raise standards across all areas of school life.

Pupils now make good progress in English, maths and science, and provision for pupils from disadvantaged pupils has improved. Ofsted inspectors were impressed with the changes made by 'inspiring' headteacher Jonathan Wilton and his leadership team.

The Walshaw Road school's overall Ofsted rating went up from 'requires improvement' to 'good' in all areas in February this year.

Mr Wilton, who took over the school in September 2016, welcomed their new Real School Guide rating.

"During the last year, Elton has achieved the best Progress 8 score in Bury, moved smoothly and successfully into a new school building and earned an excellent report from Ofsted, with inspectors highlighting the impact of new leadership," Mr Wilton said. …
