COLIN Bell played for City from 1966 to 1979 and is widely regarded as one of the club's best players of all time.

He richly deserves his nicknames - Nijinsky and the King of the Kippax!

The midfielder began his football career at Bury, where he became team captain.

Malcolm Allison signed Bell for City in 1966. He soon became an integral part of the team and was instrumental in the successes of the late 60s and early 70s.

City won the League Championship in 1968, the FA Cup in 1969 and the League Cup and Cup Winners Cup in 1970.

In 1970, Bell was selected to join the England squad and came on as sub in the 3-2 quarter-final defeat against Germany in the Mexico World Cup.

By 1974 he had become a firm fixture in the England side managed by former City boss Joe Mercer. …
