SAIT Mboob had hopes of playing for City - and was comforted by a professional footballer pal before he died.

Sait, from Openshaw, had studied BTEC business at Connell Sixth Form College in Beswick and was hoping to secure a Higher Apprenticeship when he was fatally injured in fighting at Crosshill Street, Moss Side.

Before that he had been part of the City Select Squad, a youth team which can offer a route into the Academy team and a professional career.

However, Sait's hopes were ended by injury. Footballer Nosa Iyamu, a former MCFC U18 player who has also played for Birmingham City, suggested in a tweet that he had been at Sait's bedside when he was critically injured.
