The recent racist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, has a former neo-Nazi from Vancouver urging parents to talk with their kids about the dangers of white-supremacist-fuelled hate. Tony McAleer (MAC'-uh-leer) was befriended by skinheads who introduced him to punk music when he was a teen, and for 15 years he said he lived a violent lifestyle hating non-whites and gays. McAleer says disconnected youth can easily be lured into hateful thinking via the Internet, but parents need to speak openly with their kids. ("..too late.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: The City of Vancouver has issued a statement about a pro- and anti-nationalist rally planned for Saturday, saying police will closely monitor any hate speech that crosses the line to criminal behaviour.

The recent deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, has an education professor at the University of British Columbia pondering racist stereotypes in the school system. Michelle Stack says children learn from textbooks and curricula that white people are inventors and achievers and others benefit from that knowledge. NAT003 - (Eclipse-Glasses) TORONTO. x-05s. People are turning to social media to track down places that still have solar eclipse glasses in stock. Optometrists have said that watching the eclipse without certified protection could lead to permanent vision loss. Best Buy and Toys R Us are sold out on their websites and in many of their stores. Andy Kahrmann from London Drugs says the chain sold thousands of sets of glasses, and couldn't meet demand. …
