(EU-Spain-Barcelona-Pedestrians-Hit) (Audio: 04)

Five suspects have been shot and killed in the Spanish resort town of Cambrils, in what police says was a connected terrorist attack following incidents in Barcelona and the town of Alcanar.

Police in Spain's Catalonia region say the five suspects were carrying bomb belts, and five civilians and one police officer were injured in the attack.

One person was killed in the explosion in Alcanar.

At least 13 people are dead and 100 injured after a van drove onto a pedestrian walkway in a popular tourist destination in downtown Barcelona. (1)

Global Affairs Canada is urging Canadians in Spain to let their loved ones know they are safe after Thursday's series of attacks.

The department says no Canadians are among those killed or injured, but it is ready to assist those in Barcelona who may need assistance. (1)

(Quebecers-Charlottesville)

Two men from Quebec have been identified as participants in last weekend's deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

One of them -- Shawn Beauvais-MacDonald -- wrote an angry Facebook post after an anti-fascist group posted a photo showing his face, saying "These people are idiots who drive forward the globalist media narrative to silence anyone who is right of centre."

The right-wing group La Meute says Beauvais-MacDonald's membership is suspended pending an investigation into the rally attendance.

The other man -- Vincent Belanger-Mercure -- says he attended the rally to "be entertained," adding he isn't a white supremacist. …
