Spanish authorities say Canada is among 34 countries with citizens killed or injured in the terrorist attack in Barcelona, but Global Affairs only says Canadians have been "affected" by the attacks.

It does not give further details, citing privacy reasons.

Canadians in Spain are advised to stay away from the Las Ramblas tourist area in Barcelona, where an alleged terrorist drove a van into a crowd, killing at least 13 people and injuring more than 100.

A second attack occurred in the resort town of Cambrils south of Barcelona eight hours later, leaving one woman dead.

(Finland-Stabbing)

Police in Finland say they are looking for more potential suspects in the stabbing of several people in the western city of Turku.

Earlier, police say they shot one man in the leg who was suspected of stabbing several people.

A newspaper says six people were wounded, one man and five women, and that a woman with a stroller was attacked by a man with a large knife. (9)

Some things were a little more expensive in Canada last month compared to June.

StatsCan says the annualized inflation rate accelerated to 1.2 per cent from an even one per cent.

The higher price of gasoline, up 4.6 per cent in July compared to a year earlier, was among the biggest contributors behind the uptick.

Upward pressure also came from year-over-year price increases of 9.7 per cent for natural gas, 8.5 per cent for traveller accommodation and 4.1 per cent for homeowner's replacement costs.

Among the downward pressures -- the cost of electricity -- due in large part to legislated price declines in Ontario. …
