WINNIPEG. x-08s. New details are coming to light about the troubled past of a man running for the leadership of the Manitoba New Democrats. Wab Kinew (WAWB' kih-NOO') says he was charged with domestic violence in 2003, but the charge was dropped. He also says he was charged with stealing a money order in 2006 but that charge was stayed. Kinew is coming forward now after an anonymous email was sent to media outlets this week saying Kinew had been convicted on the charges.

TAG: In his 2015 memoir, "The Reason You Walk", Kinew revealed two criminal convictions -- for assault and driving while intoxicated. He has since received a pardon. Kinew is the perceived front-runner in a two-person Manitoba NDP leadership race that will be decided September 16th.
