Relatives of the Canadian killed in the Barcelona terror attack are remembering a man who enjoyed lively debate and travelling.

Ian Moore Wilson was the father of a Vancouver police officer.

He's described as a loving husband to his wife of 53-years Valerie, as well as a father, brother and grandfather.

The family says he loved a good book, exploring new places and -- quoting -- ''a proper-sized pint.''

They say they've received support from Vancouver police, the R-C-M-P, airlines and emergency responders in Spain who helped Wilson in his final moments and provided urgent medical care to his wife. (19)



Law enforcement authorities are out with a warning ahead of planned duelling protests by anti-fascist groups and a right-wing organization in Quebec City.

Police say the right to protest is a constitutional one.

But they also say criminal activity, violence or vandalism will not be tolerated.

The weekend protests that would pit pro-refugee groups against those opposed to what they call ``illegal immigration'' are planned for undisclosed locations Sunday. (19)



The provincewide state of emergency due to record wildfires in B-C has been extended.

The government says this third extension is expected to remain in effect until September 1st, which will bring its total duration to eight weeks.

The state of emergency allows for better co-ordination of federal, provincial and local resources to ensure public safety.

As of Friday, 140 wildfires were burning in B-C, with 26 evacuation orders affecting about 44-hundred people, and 41 evacuation alerts. …
