In response to the letter from William Casey ("Robo Despair," Aug. 13), I would suggest he look into a website called nomorobo.com. It will save him a lot of aggravation. Since I registered with the site, I have removed all the out-of-state or 800 number calls from marketers. It really works. It's free for landlines, but there may be a charge for installing on your cell phone.

But here's a new wrinkle that the telemarketers are using. They can make it look like the call is a local call from a person in your own neighborhood. Caller ID shows the call as coming from 412 and even your same prefix number with a legitimate name, but if you answer it's the same pitch about upgrading your credit card. I know that they have used mine because a neighbor got a call from me and called me back to find out why I called her. …
