The former San Francisco 49ers star was criticized last year for kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial oppression -- a gesture seen as an anti-law enforcement. Kaepernick became a free agent in March, but has not been taken by any N-F-L team. Former and current officers at Saturday's rally called for support in getting Kaepernick signed. Former N-Y-P-D officer Frank Serpico, who was made famous for the Al Pacino movie recounting his fight against police corruption, praised Kaepernick for protesting inequality. ("..get punished.")
