Canada earns two bronze at University Games

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Gymnast Ellie Black and weightlifter Alex Bellemarre earned bronze medals for Canada on Tuesday at the University Games.

Black posted 54.950 points, including 14.500 on the vault and 14.000 on the beam to win bronze in the women's all-around final while Bellemarre captured Canada's first bronze medal earlier in the day in the 77-kilogram class.

"It's incredible, just getting another opportunity to come back out here and represent Canada," said Black, who represented Canada at the London Olympics in 2012 and at the Rio Games last summer.

"It was a really fun competition. A couple of bumps in the road, but it's part of the sport and you just got to keep fighting through and we just had a blast out here today."

Bellemarre was second after the snatch portion of the final after lifting 147 kg. …
