St. Louis Man Admits 2012 Drug-Related Murder

ST. LOUIS * A St. Louis man on Thursday admitted fatally shooting a Centralia, Ill., man in 2012 during a drug-related robbery, prosecutors said.

Jessie "Lil' Jessie" Hampton, 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, resulting in murder, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Malcolm "Lil' Mac" Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty to the same charge on Aug. 11.

Johnson, Hampton and Kevin "Jeezy" Granderson, 34, planned the armed robbery of three other men who had come to St. Louis to buy 27 ounces of cocaine for $27,000, prosecutors have said.

They met just after midnight on July 15, 2012, in the 1200 block of North 15th Street. During the robbery, Hampton shot Scipio A. Vaughn, 33, twice in the back when he tried to run away, prosecutors said. …
