A WIGAN student who was inspired to pursue a career in nursing following her mum's cancer battle is one step closer to achieving her dream.

Olivia Hanley, of Winstanley College, aced her A levels and will be going to the University of Liverpool to study adult nursing.

Olivia's motivation to become an adult nurse came from her mum's battle with cancer and the positive impact that nurses had on her family.

The 18-year-old secured B,B,C and an A in her extended nursing project.

Olivia said: "I wanted to study adult nursing because my mum was suffering from cancer and we were in close contact with nurses and health professionals and I loved the work that they did and how they helped my mum and whole family and I also wanted to make this impact.

"I have done a lot of work experience over the last few years. …
