Daniel Set to Follow in Footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton

TWO students from Audenshaw School are to take up places at colleges in Oxford and Cambridge after achieving outstanding A level results.

Rachael Bragg, from Droylsden, will attend Pembroke College, Oxford, to study history, while fellow sixth form student Daniel Beech will follow in the footsteps of Sir Isaac Newton by reading natural sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Rachael, who was one of just 875 students nationwide to gain a place at Oxford University's summer school last year, gained A* in history, A in Politics, B in English literature and B in maths.

The 18-year-old said: "I'm really surprised and excited by my results and can't wait to get to Oxford!

"Although some girls might think it's daunting moving to a boys' school, I've been made to feel very welcome and want to encourage other girls to make the move. …
