The lack of new ideas at the state and national level is disheartening. Both Democrats and Republicans dig their ideological trenches and defend them to the death. The other side is the enemy and no attempt is made to find common ground. Thank goodness that is starting to change here in Kansas. Sadly, in Washington, D.C., Republicans can't even work together. I would like to offer two ideas to ameliorate the deadlock on a couple of issues.

On the recently-repealed tax break for LLC businesses here in Kansas, I have an idea that should satisfy both sides. Any LLC that actually creates permanent, full-time jobs with benefits gets a reduction in state income tax prorated by the number of positions involved. Those that don't create any jobs pay full state income tax. Those that do will get credits for each job they create - up to paying no state income tax. …
