A GREAT-GRANDMA has proved you're never too old to be an adrenaline junkie - after jumping out of a plane at 11,000ft.

Shirley McConnell, 82, fulfilled a long-standing ambition by taking part in a tandem skydive for charity.

She passed a medical with flying colours so completed the parachute jump - which included thousands of feet of freefall - to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Association.

Following her daredevil experience Shirley, of Marsden Road in Romiley, Stockport said: "I'd always wanted to have a go but not had the chance until now. I've always liked flying and I feel I wanted to do it before I got too old.

"My friend did one and said it goes by so quickly you want to do it again, which sounded good.

"The thought that a nice young man was safely holding me was good and reassuring too. …
