Chief: Don't Use 'Peter' in Park's Name Police Chief Asks

Peters police chief has a request concerning the new park planned at the former Rolling Hills Country Club: Don't use "Peter" in the park's name.

"I am recommending council consider not using a derivation of 'Peter' in the name of the park," Chief Doug Grimes wrote in a memo to the township.

The chief noted that the township has two parks with "Peter" in the name: Peterswood Park and Peters Lake Park.

"From an emergency management perspective, similarly named facilities in very different locations have the potential to create confusion and cause a delayed response from emergency management personnel when needed," Chief Grimes stated in his memorandum.

He added that similar names also can create confusion for the public, especially those coming from outside the area for sporting events or other activities. …
