MANCHESTER Airport will demolish and not replace both its petrol stations to make way for the £1bn transformation project.

It will mean passengers heading home after a flight - or returning a hire car - will have to fill up off-site.

The Texaco petrol station in T1 will close this month and the land will become part of a new road system, as well as being used for additional car parking.

And the T2 Texaco station will also go, with hub bosses confirming it will be 'part of the Airport City development' - an £800m 5m sq ft business development.

Getting rid of both garages, which are run by MSS, could cause some inconvenience to passengers dropping off hire cars as firms often stipulate the tank should be half-full or full. …
