IAN Watson admitted his side are in for a "long, hard week" after the "embarrassment" of the 43-18 defeat at home to Wakefield on Friday night.

The result effectively puts paid to any hopes Salford had of making the top-four play-offs and a potential Grand Final at Old Trafford and means the Red Devils have won just one of their last 11 Super League matches.

"As individuals and as a club, it's not what we've been about and it's something we need to rectify," admitted Watson.

"People patted us on the back earlier in the season and said we've massively progressed, obviously from being in the Million Pound Game to being a top eight team. But it just seems like we got there and then people have lost that bit of desire and don't want to push through that and be even better.

"We're not showing that desire that we were showing earlier on in the season. …
