Agrainy video of a large lion running towards two long-haired men before leaping up and hugging them ecstatically went viral almost 40 years after it was filmed in Africa. It documents the moving reunion of the men with their pet lion Christian, a year after they'd released him into the wild.

Their extraordinary story started in 1969 when young Australians John Rendall and Anthony Bourke bought the four-month-old lion cub from Harrods' pet department, hoping to give him a better life.

The young lion grew up in Chelsea, spending his time at Sophisticat, a furniture shop where Rendall and Bourke worked, and their flat, where Christian rode on the vacuum cleaner and had a giant tray of cat litter.
