WASHINGTON * President Donald Trump has named a St. Louis native, Emily Webster Murphy, to be the administrator of the General Services Administration.

The agency is responsible for procuring workspace, supplies, technology and other services for the federal government.

She is currently a senior advisor at the GSA.

Murphy was the GSA's first chief acquisition officer more than a decade ago. She has also been counsel to the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, specializing in acquisition policy and reform. Murphy also has worked for the U.S. Small Business Administration and the staff of the House Small Business Committee. She worked eight years in the private sector for District of Columbia law firms and a technology startup company.
