Correction published on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 * The visitation for St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien, who died last week, is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Belleville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Heritage Hall at Althoff High School in Belleville, right before the 11 a.m. funeral there. A story in Monday's main news section included incorrect visitation information for Thursday.

ST. LOUIS * A St. Clair County circuit judge who deployed an unusual strategy to retain his seat in 2016 resigning only to immediately run for the judgeship again has died.

Robert LeChien, 65, of Belleville died Thursday of complications from surgery, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.

LeChien, along with judges John Baricevic and Robert Haida, stepped down from his position last year before promptly running for and winning re-election. …
