JONNY Evans has revealed his proposed move to City never reached the stage at which he would have been consulted.

The Blues made an £18m bid for the West Brom skipper in the summer transfer window, which was rejected.

City were prepared to up their offer, but the refusal of Eliaquim Mangala to join Crystal Palace in a £23m move on deadline day killed the deal.

Pep Guardiola identified the former United defender as the man he wanted as his fourth centre-back, and he could return for Evans in January, again dependent on Mangala agreeing a move.

"I don't make the decisions," said Evans. "I'm just someone in the middle with two clubs after me.

"Man City first have to decide do they want you, or any club have to decide, and your own club have to decide do they sell you? …
