FIVE men were arrested after a man was bundled into the back of a van, another robbed at gunpoint and a group of people threatened with a machete.

Police were alerted to a gang of three men in a white van carrying out a series of violent attacks in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, on Thursday night.

The men, who concealed their faces with balaclavas, approached a group of men and threatened them with a machete on Swann Lane at around 11.15pm.

Police then received a further report of a man being bundled into a white van, along with another report of a man being assaulted on Ladybridge Road.

A short time later, police were flagged down by a man who said he had been attacked and robbed at gunpoint by men in a white van.

Officers found a white van and following a short pursuit officers arrested five men.

The man who was bundled into the back of the van suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Five men, aged between 17 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of kidnap, robbery, section 18 assault and robbery. …
