TAG: Churchill lost its only land connection to the outside world in the spring when flooding damaged the rail line. The rail line and the port used to be federally owned, but were sold to Denver-based Omnitrax in 1997. Omnitrax has shut down the port's grain terminal, says it cannot afford to repair the rail line, and has been trying to sell it to a First Nations consortium. Pallister says if the federal government took back the port and revived it, it would help the viability of the rail line. …
