NAT133 - (Legislature-BC) VICTORIA, B.C. x-18s. A former member of the Opposition Liberals has defied his party to become the new Speaker of the B-C legislature. Darryl Plecas was acclaimed to the role shortly after the Liberals released a statement expelling him from caucus. Interim Liberal Leader Rich Coleman addressed his former colleague in the legislature after issuing a statement saying he's disappointed Plecas repeatedly reassured the party he would not seek the role of Speaker.
