The venue became known for it's weekly Northern Soul club nights which often lasted until at least 6am.

People travelled from all over the country to listen to soul tunes and dance through the night.

The Northern Soul genre consisted of mans y songs that were released in the 1960s, mainly by lesser known American artists, making it one of the only movements with a culture that focused on songs from the past.

The beat of Northern Soul music was fast and heavy, fused with the soul sound of the 1960s.

The main objective of Northern Soul was to dance and have a good time.

Wigan Casino became known as the place to go to dance all night, and was the perfect venue due to its large capacity. …
