JOHN Stones barely put a foot wrong in City's 4-0 win over Feyenoord - but chose not to end the game with the captain's armband.

David Silva skippered the side for the first hour of the match before handing over the duties to Fernandinho when he was substituted.

The Brazilian followed just four minutes later, though, to make way for Leroy Sane and looked to give the armband to Stones before he left the pitch.

The England international headed in two goals and was solid defensively to help the Blues pick up a second clean sheet in five days.

However, he instead pointed out Belgian Kevin de Bruyne for the honour and explained why after the game.

"I thought Kevin deserved it," he said. "I think [Fernandinho] didn't see that Kevin was on the pitch so I just told him to go and give it to him. …
