Logan Elementary Cancels Class amid Water Outage

Students at Logan Elementary went home early Monday after a water main break cut off water to the school in North Topeka.

Aged water lines under N.W. Tyler broke as crews worked to replace them, city of Topeka spokeswoman Molly Hadfield said. The school, at 1124 N.W. Lyman Road, along with about 100 neighborhood homes and businesses, were without water Monday afternoon.

Seaman Unified School District 345 spokeswoman Candace LeDuc said the city alerted the district to the issue just before 10 a.m. The district originally hoped the school would remain open, but LeDuc said it could be several hours before water was restored. Students were sent home about 11:30 a.m.

Hadfield said the city expected the pipes to be repaired by Monday evening. …
