Most Hollywood stars spend their lives amassing considerable property empires, and Mel Gibson is no different.

During a career that has spanned 30 years and included hits such as the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon series and Braveheart, Gibson has used his considerable fortune to buy half a dozen properties.

This includes homes in California, Costa Rica - which he bought while filming the movie Apocalypto - as well as properties in Fiji, Australia and Montana.

He has begun offloading them though, and recently sold a home in Sherman Oaks, California for £2.1m, as well as putting his Malibu mansion on the market for £17.5m, which he bought from actor David Duchovny for £11.5m.

His latest disposal is one of his Costa Rican properties. It's a 403-acre beachfront jungle estate on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula on the country's northern Pacific Coast. …
