JOSE Mourinho hailed David de Gea's 'important' performance for United after he made two crucial saves in their 4-0 win over Everton.

United were only 1-0 up when De Gea was called on to deny his former captain, Wayne Rooney, shortly after half-time - and he then prevented Gylfi Sigurdsson from scoring a fourth Old Trafford goal in four seasons as the visitors threatened to claim an equaliser.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial added considerable gloss to United's fourth Premier League victory of the campaign, but De Gea pulled off another fine save from substitute Sandro Ramirez late on.

De Gea has not conceded at Old Trafford since Sigurdsson beat him with a free-kick to earn Swansea a draw on April 30 - and Sunday marked his 100th clean sheet for the club. …
