Brentwood Council voted unanimously Sept. 19 to proceed with the purchase of the former Snee Dairy property on Brownsville Road, edging closer acquiring the site of a new borough building.

The purchase price will be from $70,000 to $101,000 depending on the remediation required for site.

At its Sept. 25 meeting, council will decide whether to authorize HHSDR Engineers and Architects to complete final design documents for a new building at a cost of $332,000.

Councilman Pat Carnevale, who voted to purchase the Snee property, said he believes the estimated $6.5 million cost of the new building is too high.

He prefers moving the police and emergency medical services to a vacant property on Brentwood Avenue that was formerly used as a soccer field. …
