Nonprofit Set to Hold Diaper Drives for Families

Junior League of Topeka will celebrate Diaper Need Awareness Week beginning Monday, according to a news release.

Diaper Need Awareness Week is a national event to increase public knowledge about low-income families' struggles to purchase diapers.

Erin Aldridge, vice president of community impact for Junior League, said diapers for one infant cost about $100 per month.

"Unfortunately, government assistance programs like SNAP and WIC do not cover the cost of diapers, forcing many low-income families to make the impossible decision between purchasing food or diapers," Aldridge said in a statement.

Junior League of Topeka members will host diaper drives Monday through Friday at the following locations:

Brandon Aldridge State Farm Insurance, S.E. 29th and Croco.

Parents as Teachers USD 501, S.W. 23rd and Topeka Boulevard. …
