A SCHOOLBOY was set upon and robbed in the street by a gang of thugs in Chorlton.

The youngster, understood to be 16-years-old, was beaten up on Nell Lane outside Chorlton High School at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

The boy was punched and kicked, with the attackers taking his mobile phone, headphones and wallet during the attack.

Police are now investigating the incident.

A warning has been sent out to parents at Chorlton High School urging them and their children to be vigilant.

Head Zoe Morris said: "Over the next few weeks students will be given safety messages in assembly and via their form tutor.

"We have also issued a letter to share these messages with parents and carers."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman confirmed they had received a report of the attack. …
