CITY manager Pep Guardiola has revealed makeshift left-back Fabian Delph was his man of the match in the 2-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Blues dominated the Ukrainian side, with Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling scoring as Guardiola's team recorded a second successive victory in the competition.

And, although De Bruyne bagged a wonder goal, it was Delph's performance which stole the show as City maintained their position at the top of Group F. "Amazing. He was man of the match," Guardiola said.

"It is always better to have him. It doesn't matter where he plays, he always tries to do his best.

"He's intelligent, his physicality, with the ball - he doesn't lose the ball because he's a midfield player.
