CRESTWOOD > No more front-yard swing sets, city decides * The Board of Aldermen here on Tuesday night passed a long-pending bill that prohibits trampolines, swing sets and similar items in residential front and side yards.

Existing structures that are permanently attached are exempted, as are tire swings through a last-minute amendment. Also, "bounce houses" will be allowed on a temporary basis, but no more than seven days in a year.

Some aldermen had been fielding complaints from residents about the unsightliness of such items. But there had been a dispute concerning homes that effectively have "two front yards" but little or no rear yard space. Some aldermen said enforcement against such homes would be unfair.
