NAT108 - (Missing-Olympian-Fraud) VICTORIA, B.C. x-13s. A lawyer for former Olympic rower Harold Backer has pleaded not guilty on his behalf to fraud charges in a B-C court. NAT109 - (Victoria-Cross-Auction) OTTAWA. x-16s. A Victoria Cross and other medals awarded to one of Canada's Second World War heroes have been sold at auction to a buyer in the United Kingdom for 660-thousand dollars. Major David Currie was given the Commonwealth's highest medal for valour in recognition of his service at a brutal battle during the 1944 Normandy campaign in France.
