NAT075 - (Hiker-Dead) NORTH VANCOUVER. x-21s. One man has been killed and his climbing partner has severe rope burns to his hands following an accident on a North Shore mountain in B-C. North Shore Rescue spokesman Mike Danks says the men were climbing near a route known as the Widowmaker, not far from Crown Mountain. They were lead-climbing -- meaning one person is belayed from below while climbing up a route, placing fall-protection in the rock so the second person can follow the same route. Danks says the man who was doing the lead-climbing was about 3.6-metres above his partner when he took a fall. ("..not survivable.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)
