Girl, 13, was driving car that crashed, police say

A 19-year-old woman was arrested Saturday, accused of allowing her 13-year-old sister to drive a car that ended up crashing into a Highland Park playground.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the Highland Park Super Playground on Resevoir Drive.

No one was hurt, but a father had to grab his young child out of a stroller and hurry away from the path of the car, police said. The car hit the stroller and pinned it to a fence.

Police charged Mariamo Mada with recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child for allowing her sister to drive.

Police said Ms. Mada tried to get into the driver's seat after the crash.


Costly fire was intentional

State police said a fire at a maintenance building in Westmoreland County that caused millions of dollars in damage was set intentionally. …
