WINNIPEG. x-13s. A Manitoba politician who was kicked out of the governing Tory caucus is hoping to have the right to join another party by next week. Steven Fletcher filed a lawsuit last month over a provincial law that forbids so-called floor-crossing and requires him to sit as an independent in the legislature. Fletcher's lawyer, Bill Gange (GANZH'), says the law violates Fletcher's rights.

TAG: The Tory government has already said it won't fight the lawsuit and will change the law in the near future. But Gange says that is not soon enough, and he'll be asking the court for a ruling on Monday. He says Fletcher wants the right to join another party by Wednesday -- when the legislature reconvenes after the summer break. …
