YUKON MAN FACING MURDER CHARGE AFTER SUMMER HOMICIDE

A Yukon man facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a 57-year-old man in Carmacks has made his first court appearance.

Tyler Aaron Skookum, 27, appeared in Territorial Court on Friday sporting a black eye, and kept his head down for most of the brief proceedings.

He's accused in the homicide of Wilfred "Dickie" Charlie, whose body was found in the Yukon River near Fort Selkirk on July 5, two weeks after he went missing.

Judge Raymond Wyant set Oct. 27 as the next court date.
