KEVIN de Bruyne was said by Match of the Day commentator Jonathan Pearce to have had "a quiet game" after his matchwinning goal at Chelsea on Sunday.

If that was the Belgian being quiet, he will be blowing Messi and Ronaldo off the pitch when he starts making some noise!

Pearce's claim came as news to the 3,000 ecstatic City fans who hailed the Belgium midfielder as the best player in the country - and to the millions who watched him on TV as he ran the game.

But BBC columnist and former Spurs striker Garth Crooks appeared to endorse Pearce's unpopular view when he picked his Team of the Week - but still put De Bruyne in it.

The Blues ace played a smart one-two with Gabriel Jesus before crashing home the winner in the second half, but he had been the best player on the park, in the majority view of the press box. …
