WINNIPEG. x-8s. A Manitoba law that forbids provincial politicians from switching parties by crossing the legislature floor remains alive, at least for the immediate future. The government has already said it intends to repeal the law, which was introduced in 2006. But Independent legislature member Steven Fletcher asked a Court of Queen's Bench judge to strike it down immediately as unconstitutional, but the judge did not do so. Fletcher's lawyer, Bill Gange (GANZH'), said the government has not guaranteed the law will be gone soon.
