The parents of Jordan McIldoon are remembering their son as compassionate young man who was fearless and lived a life of adventure.

McIldoon -- who would have turned 24 on Friday -- was one of almost 60 people who were killed by a gunman in Las Vegas on Sunday.

His parents issued a statement today describing the life of their only son, who grew up on their rural property in Maple Ridge.

They said he loved hockey, snowboarding, NASCAR, country music and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, adding he was rarely seen out of his cowboy boots. (The Canadian Press)

Hassard says he and his wife were in the middle of the crowd when the shooting broke out, but they were able to take shelter in a nearby bar before grabbing a taxi to their hotel. (CKRW)
