CITY could face a fight to keep hold of Patrick Vieira with the Frenchman considering his future with the Blues.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who finished his playing career at the Etihad, is held in extremely high regard by club bosses.

After managing the Under-21s for two-and-a-half years, Vieira was parachuted into sister club New York City in January 2016, taking over from experienced MLS coach Jason Kreis.

Hailed as a future City manager by mentor Brian Marwood before he had even started across the Pond, the 41-year-old has enhanced his coaching reputation with two strong campaigns.

As well as the team impressing, David Villa and Jack Harrison have earned notable international recognition recently.

City have been keen to keep Vieira within the City Football Group and see him as a future manager of the Blues, something he himself has admitted would be the 'fairytale story'. …
