ONE of the division's big guns is aiming to halt the Richie Wellens bandwagon.

Oldham's interim boss Wellens made it three wins in a row after seeing off Crewe in midweek, becoming the first Latics manager since Frank Womack in 1945 to achieve such a feat.

The club are not in action this weekend and the same is true of next opponents Blackburn Rovers, currently sixth in the table.

Oldham could make a decision on the identity of their next boss before the Rovers game but if that doesn't happen, Wellens certainly has his work cut out to make it four straight victories.

Blackburn have recovered after an inconsistent start to the season to record six wins from their least eight matches.

And one player in particular Oldham will need to maintain his current excellent form is ex-Rovers midfielder Jack Byrne, who has been inspirational of late in terms of his attacking play. …
