NAT092 - (Spain-Catalonia) (FOR PRODUCTION) MADRID. x-16s. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has vowed that his government will not allow Catalonia to break away from the rest of the country. In an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais published today, Rajoy said "Spain is not going to be divided and the nation's unity will be maintained." Rajoy says that he will consider employing any measure "allowed by the law" to stop the region's separatists. The Catalan government held a referendum last week that the Spanish government said was illegal. The "Yes" side won with 90 per cent with less than half the electorate polled. This is sound of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, saying that his government will not allow Catalonia, which represents a fifth of Spain's economy, to break away from the rest of the country. …
