Topeka Appoints New Local Judge

Lori Dougherty-Bichsel, a former state litigator, will lead the Topeka Municipal Court as administrative judge, the city announced Wednesday.

Dougherty-Bichsel will join the city court Oct. 23 at a salary of $104,000. In a city news release, she said she would continue to build a positive connection between the community and the Municipal Court.

"Working with the local community has been a life-long passion; serving as the administrative Municipal Court judge is a remarkable opportunity to take that passion to the next level," she said in the statement.

She comes to the city from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services where she managed litigation as the head litigator. There her legal practice focused on general civil litigation, mental health law, employment law and constitutional law. …
