Old People with Walking Frames Are Targets of Con Artist

'VERY well-presented' con artists are stealing purses from pensioners with walking frames by pretending they are lost, police have warned.

The men - wearing suits - are understood to approach elderly people asking for directions.

They then unfurl maps across pensioners' walking frames before snatching purses stored underneath. The men then flee before their victims realise what has happened, police said.

Officers have now warned elderly people to be on guard following two incidents in Littleborough, near Rochdale, last week.

One OAP was approached by two men in the car park of the Co-operative Food Store on Station Road last Tuesday at around 11am.

Another woman later had her purse stolen near Ark nursery on Featherstall Road.

Police said victims described the men as Asian and in their late 30s or 40s.

Those targeted said the men were dressed in suits and were 'very wellpresented. …
