TV star Tricia Penrose will get heart beats racing as she joins starting officials to cheer on runners of the Manchester Half Marathon.

Tricia, who played the role of Gina Ward on ITV's long-running drama, Heartbeat, will join starting officials in getting the race underway and be on hand to cheer on those taking part in the event on Sunday morning.

The 47 year-old actress has long been involved in fundraising for the The Christie after they helped save her mum Sue Gordon, from Oldham, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Tricia said: "Not only is the Manchester Half Marathon one of the flattest and fastest courses in the UK, it is also known as one of the friendliest. Runners love the warm Manchester welcome they get from the supporters and spectators who are expected to come out in their droves again this year. …
